Singapore Court’s sentencing of Mr. Alan Shadrake is excessive

Singaporeans For Democracy notes that it is the arrest and subsequent prosecution of Mr. Shadrake by Singapore authorities that drew international attention to the contents of the book – “Once a Jolly Hangman – Singapore Justice in the Dock”.

Singaporeans For Democracy further calls on the Singapore Police Force to clarify and make public the progress of investigations into Mr. Shadrake’s criminal defamation charge and calls for the immediate return of his passport.

Singaporeans For Democracy calls on members of the United Nations to take note of the Alan Shadrake case and hold the Singapore Government accountable during the Universal Periodic Review process later in 2011.
