Update on Kho Jabing: Execution has been scheduled

After being granted a stay of execution last November a day before he was scheduled to be hanged, Kho Jabing’s death sentence was once again maintained on 5 April 2016 by Singapore’s apex court as they dismissed the criminal motion filed on his behalf.

While the legal team is preparing to submit a clemency petition to the President, his family was informed by the Singapore Prison Service that Jabing’s death sentence will be carried out on 20 May 2016 in a letter dated 11 May 2016.

We are dismayed by the news, and we appeal to the government to put a hold to the execution, as the clemency petition has yet been submitted.
